CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
SUNDAY CYCLING EVENT
To participate in L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France, in any of its three distances, you must be at least fifteen (15) years old on race day, have successfully completed your registration, collected your race number, and be in suitable physical and mental condition.
The event is primarily designed for road cyclists. Only road bikes are permitted on the 120 km Long Route. Mountain bikes and e-bikes are also permitted on the 73 km Short Route and 30 km Family Route. E-bikes may not ride with the leading group or compete for podium positions and will only be eligible to receive a finisher medal.
The 30 km Family Route is a group ride on roads closed to traffic, designed to enjoy Pucón’s surroundings, share the experience, and embrace the true spirit of cycling and the Tour de France.
THE EVENT ROUTES
L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France features three officially timed routes: 30 km (Family Route), 73 km (Short Route), and 120 km (Long Route).
Maps and detailed information for each course will be available in the Routes section of the official L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France website. They will also be shared through the Athlete Guide, sent in advance to registered riders, as well as through the event’s official social media channels and newsletters.
ABOUT THE EVENT AND TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France is a one-day cycling event taking place in Pucón, Chile.
The event features three officially timed routes: 30 km (Family Route), 73 km (Short Route), and 120 km (Long Route). Each course takes riders from Pucón into the spectacular landscapes of Curarrehue and the Chilean Andes, on roads partially or fully closed to traffic, ensuring safety and an authentic Tour de France-style experience.
Traffic management measures and temporary road closures will be published in advance on the official L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France website and through the communication channels of event partners.
All participants are expected to respect traffic regulations, follow the instructions of the organization and course directors, and maintain a spirit of respect and camaraderie among riders at all times.
REGISTRATION AND START PACK COLLECTION
Participants will be able to collect their race number, timing chip, and official race kit by presenting a valid ID at the official L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France Expo and registration area, with the location to be confirmed.
Race kit collection:
- Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20, 2027.
- From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Any updates will be communicated in advance through the official website, social media channels, and email newsletters sent to registered participants.
Participants are not permitted to collect a race kit on behalf of another person.
The race number must be worn on the back and remain visible at all times, including in adverse weather conditions. It will be mandatory for access to participant-only areas and the start and finish areas.
OFFICIAL TIMING
Official timing will be carried out using an electronic detection system, operated by the official timing partner of L’Étape Pucón by Tour de France.
Ride & Race – Sunday
All three official routes —30 km (Family Route), 73 km (Short Route), and 120 km (Long Route)— will be timed in their entirety, with official rankings determined by each participant’s recorded time.
In addition, selected flat sections and climbs will be timed independently to determine the special classifications for the Green Jersey (Sprint) and Polka Dot Jersey (Climber).
Timing Chip
Each participant will receive an electronic timing chip together with their race number, which must be installed under the bicycle seat.
The chip will activate automatically when crossing the start line and will continuously record the rider’s time until the finish line.
Important: Handle the timing chip carefully. Do not bend, fold, or damage it, as this may prevent it from functioning correctly and result in your time not being recorded.
Disqualifications
Participants will be disqualified if they:
- Fail to follow the official course established by the organization.
- Receive external (human) assistance.
- Cross the finish line without their timing chip.
- Cross the finish line after the official cut-off time, which will be communicated in the Athlete Guide.
Important Information
The electronic timing system used during the event meets high standards of reliability. However, despite testing performed by the manufacturer, exceptional cases of undetected readings may occur, and the organization cannot be held responsible for such situations.
HYDRATION & REFRESHMENT STATIONS
During Sunday’s event, aid stations will be located along the 30 km (Family Route), 73 km (Short Route), and 120 km (Long Route) courses.
These stations will be strategically positioned along the routes to support riders throughout the race.
In addition, a hydration and recovery station will be available at the finish line for all participants after completing their ride.
